Yarn Forward started as a mail order company on November 1st, 1996, selling knitting products on the Internet.
On September 15th, 1997, Yarn Forward opened its first retail outlet in Kanata, Ontario.
On October 8th, 1998, Yarn Forward opened its second retail outlet in Ottawa, Ontario. The Ottawa store is also a Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine and Serger dealer.
The Distribution Centre opened in July 2001.
In July 2002 we doubled the size of our Kanata store to 2,000 square feet.
In March 2003 Yarn Forward launched three separate web sites. One for US & International customers, one for Canada, and one for the UK.
In March 2005 our Kanata store was awarded the Husqvarna Viking dealership for the Kanata area and considerable upgrades were carried out to the Kanata store.
In May 2005, Yarn Forward won the Husqvarna Viking International Rising Star award.
