LAUNDERING COTTONThis information has been supplied by Coats Canada.
The first time you wash cotton garments, a special procedure is advised.
This is because some shades may contain excess dye which comes off in the first washing. Special care is required to ensure that this dye does not transfer to other shades in the garment.
1. Hand wash separately using luke-warm water and mild soap. Do not use detergent.
2. Rinse thoroughly until all soap and excess dye are removed, and water runs clear. Do not leave garment to soak.
3. If the garment contains more than one colour, remove excess moisture using the gentle spin cycle in your washing machine.
4. Dry the garment briefly in the tumble dryer on delicate cycle, using cool or very low heat. For extra protection you may wish to put the garment inside a pillow slip or laundry bag. Complete drying on a flat surface away from direct sunlight, blocking garment to original finished measurements as necessary.
Subsequent laundering can be hand wash, lightly spin to remove excess water, dry flat.
