SEWING TECHNIQUES LESSONS
In this introductory sewing course, students will begin with an understanding of machine operation and accessories, fabric types, pattern selection, interfacing, and preparation for cutting out a garment. With the Husqvarna Viking sewing machines they will learn basic seams and seam finishing. At the end of the course, each student will have made a basic tote bag.
This is a six week course, 2 hours per week. $95.00

This course is designed for young people from 8 – 14 years old.
To take part in this course, the student should have completed the Kids Can Sew – beginners, or have a similar proficiency.
The student will make a small purse or tote bag. They will receive more practice in sewing straight lines, measuring, folding, pressing, top stitching, making a pocket etc.
The finished project consists of a lined purder or bag with matching straps, an internal or external pocket, and a magnetic closure.
This is a five day course, two hours per day. Cost $80.00

The first class is 3 hours to make the basic bag and the following "Technique" classes are 2 hours per month.
Don't change your handbag, change the cover! This classes is designed to encourage you to be creative with the many different features on your Husqvarna Viking sewing and embroidery machines. In the first class you will construct the basic bag. It is fully lined with interior pockets, zippered closure and a removable cover. Then once a month we will present a different cover and sometimes different handles for your bag that will incorporate many different sewing or embroidery techniques. Create a different look for every outfit and any mood. Make it elegant or make it funky. Make it practical or totally outrageous, but make it you!
You will be using the "Smart Handbag" pattern by Georgia Caruso. Because of copyright issues, each student will be required to purchase their own copy of the pattern.
This is a monthly course. The first lesson is 3 hours, and subsequent ones are 2 hours. The cost for the first 4 months is $72.00

This class is an introduction to the creative world of Free Motion Machine Embroidery. Basic equipment and its use are covered along with the two basic stitches of this technique of machine embroidery. Then various ways of applying these techniques to interpreting images will be discussed and tried. Detailed written notes of the class will be given.
This is a three week course, 2 hours per lesson. Cost $48.00 There is a kit required for this course containing the basic materials.

You can sew the basics but now want to make garments that really fit! This course will introduce you to the "tricks of the trade". How to measure yourself and then adjust the pattern to make sure that the garment really fits. Then you will sew the muslin together and learn how to give the garment a professional looking finish.
This is a 6 week course, 2 hours per week. Cost $95.00

It will become your constant companion while doing your garden chores; and it will keep your hand tools safely until the next trip out into the garden too. Fun to make and great to use.

Do you want to be "green" but would prefer to have your own custom made grocery tote bag? You can make them any size, any colour, and in any fabric. Have fun decorating them. Label them. How about one for grandma labeled "Grandma’s Groceries". These bags are made using a single piece of fabric plus straps.

Learn how to create beautiful hand made fibre buttons and beads using various materials such as fabric, paper, silk, wool, yarn, thread etc. These artist’s buttons and beads are beautiful and unique. Make one of a kind or several all the same, or matching mirror images. Imagine the wonderful one of a kind jewelry you can make as accessories for your wardrobe, or the custom made closures for your garment. A fun course.
These buttons and beads are washable and permanent.

This compact yet versatile accessory carrying case is ideal for your sewing room or for traveling to class or workshops. Learn a unique technique that lets you turn pretty paper napkins, tissue paper, wrapping paper and other paper items into beautiful quiltable fabric. That's right, paper into fabric. The class project is two place mats but this technique can be used for all kinds of creative items. You will look at paper products in a whole new fun way.
